How to take part in sales events on Etsy

For important sales days, like Cyber Monday or Mother's Day, Etsy often hosts site-wide sales events. Any Etsy seller can participate in these sales events. To participate, set up a discount program in your store during the dates of the site-wide sales event.

To set up sales:

  • On Etsy.com , go to Shop Manager.
  • Go to Marketing.
  • Go to Sales and Marketing.
  • Select New Special Offers.
  • Select Run a sale.
  • Select the options that correspond to the sales event across the site.

If you participate in a sales event across Etsy, your store may be featured in Etsy marketing materials and may be included in sales-related search results.

To be eligible for inclusion in Etsy features for a sales event, you must match sales criteria, which typically include offering a specific type of discount and type of discount. Generally, you will be notified in advance of sales events across the site through your Shop Manager dashboard.

Can I still participate in the sales event if it is going on?

You can participate in site-wide sales even if it has started. Set up your discount program by using the steps above before the site-wide discount program ends to participate.

What should I name my sales transaction?

In addition to the Etsy sales event, please name your sale whatever you want. After you create the sale, your items will automatically be sold during the period you specified, and buyers will not need a code to get the discount. The sale name is for your own tracking purposes and is not visible to buyers.

How long do I have to maintain the sale? Can I suspend the sale at any time?

Etsy encourages you to keep your discounts active throughout the entire site-wide sale. You can end the sale early at any time, but keep in mind that you may miss out on some holiday traffic!

I want to change the discount I am offering or end the sale early

To change the discount you're offering, you can end your current sale early and create a new sale with site-wide sales event criteria.

To end the sale early:

  • From your Sales and Coupons page, go to See Detail and manage .
  • Select End Sale early at the bottom of the page.
  • If you want to change your discount, start a new discount using the steps at the top of this article and select a new discount. To be eligible for a site-wide sales event, select a new discount that falls under the discount criteria.

How does Etsy choose which items to recommend?

The qualities that the Etsy Sales team looks for in a featured store include:

  • Optimal image quality
  • The unique items
  • A well-constructed brand story
  • Brand well developed

By mentioning any or all of these areas, you can increase your chances of being featured in a site-wide sales event. To be eligible for inclusion in Etsy features for a sales event, you must also meet sales criteria.

You don t have to be featured to benefit from participating in a sales event. Most items that Etsy recommends will link to a page that displays items similar to the featured item. If one of your items is relevant and has a good position in Etsy search then that item can be shown in those results.

How do I know if I have been selected for a feature?

It is not always possible for Etsy to directly notify sellers that they are being referred on the platform, so it is best to make sure that you have signed up to receive emails from Etsy to see if you have been referred in their marketing.

To view the emails you have registered:

  • On Etsy.com , go to your account .
  • Go to N Account Settings .
  • Select the Email tab.
  • In Your Subscriptions , you can choose which emails to subscribe to. Etsy recommends selecting everything in both GENERAL GENERAL and FOR SELLERS
  • Select Save Settings .
